Depending on production date, the ply motor mounting plate of your YAK55SP "10" model will have fiberglass reinforcement on the front of mounting plate, or no fiberglass at all.  We have found that the powerful Z3007 motor (75g, 260W peak!) requires a very strong motor mount; and also that it is well to mount the motor using 4 screws rather than two.  As such, we have added additional fiberglass reinforcement plates to all kits (with Z30 4-screw pattern) which will make your motor installation perfectly reliable.

The included Fiberglass Reinforcement Plates are referred to as "FRP" below. Please install as given here:
STEP 1

Note the different hole pattern on the fiberglass reinforcement plate (FRP), which matches Z3007 motor mount spacing.
STEP 2

Use the FRP as a template to mark the narrower set of mounting holes. Two 3mm screws inserted into the wider hole set keeps everything lined up.
STEP 3

Remove the FRP and use a small drill bit to make pilot holes centered in the marks you made during step 2.
Next drill these holes to 3mm.  Go slowly to avoid tearing the wood ply.
STEP 4
Test fit the FRP on the BACK side of the motor mount.  It should be tight, but lie flush against the wood.  Lightly sand the edges of the FRP and radius the corners until it fits perfectly.  Use epoxy glue (or slow CA if you are brave) to glue the FRP to the wood BE SURE THAT THE MOUNT HOLES LINE UP PROPERLY BEFORE GLUING.  If your model has no fiberglass on front of motor mount, repeat process on front side.
STEP 5

To install the Z3007 motor:
  • Run motor wires through the triangular hole at bottom-front of motor mount
  • Let motor shaft prodtrude through the center hole in mount face
  • Push down on the back of motor until it drops into place
STEP 6

Mount the Z3007 motor using 4 pieces M3 screws.  A little anti-vibration loctite is a good idea...
